CLEVELAND, OH – Local tech firm, CodeRed, has taken it upon themselves to bring a little A.I. – or Artificial Intelligence – to Cleveland this spring. This week CodeRed launched the “Cleveland Filmbot”: an artificial intelligence program that analyzes movie plots to suggest recommendations, and also determines the overall feeling of movies. Movies are rated on a scale from “Dark” to “Upbeat” to reflect themes and plot elements such as love, happiness, sadness, anger, noir, and disturbing content.

The filmbot was created to showcase movies at the Cleveland International Film Festival 40 (CIFF40). Nearly all of the CIFF40 films have been analyzed by filmbot’s brainy algorithms.

“We love taking part in community events, as many of us at CodeRed are fans of the Film Festival”, said Vince Salvino, director of development at CodeRed. “It’s fun when you can push technology forward using something like the Film Festival. The application of A.I. technology is huge and goes way beyond just movie reviews” said Salvino when asked why CodeRed built the filmbot program.

You can check out the results at https://ciff.coderedcorp.com/, or follow @CIFFbot on twitter for live tweets and suggestions based on currently playing movies at the Festival.
